This is the same way you make contact with prospects. You use an attention grabbing pre-headline that says “Hey, read this, it's for YOU”. This is the first essential step when learning how to write a sales letter.
Once the prospect knows the sales letter is for them, the next step is to get their attention. There is a lot of information out there about headlines. Some marketers believe that the headlines should sell the product. This is not the way to create an effective sales letter. The headline is there to entice the prospect into reading the first part of the letter. The headline is the “hook”, it's there to grab the prospect. Once they're hooked, it's the marketers responsibility to reel them in.
The headline appears directly under the pre-headline, and is used to convince the prospect to continue reading. The headline is created using a larger font, and tells the prospect the reason they should continue reading. For example,”Read further to find out how this man lost over 50 pounds in 9 weeks without starving, or going to the gym.”
Now continue into the part of the letter where you gain the prospect's trust and confidence. This is one of the most crucial parts of learning how to write a sales letter. When you gain the trust of a prospect, they become comfortable with you. Trust has to be gained in order for a prospect to buy from you. You have to show the prospect that you are just like they are, and you understand their problems. Remember to create a polite salutation such as “Dear Friend”.
Create a common ground by making a statement in the body of the letter that the prospect agrees with. For example, “I'm just like you, I know I need to protect my investments, and that time is now”. Then quickly move on to paint a darker picture of what the results would be if they did not find a solution to their problem.
Then, like the silver lining in a cloud, you introduce your product as the perfect solution to their problem. Explain your product in accurate detail. Use a bullet list to point out all the benefits of your product. Create a sense of urgency in this paragraph that “hooks” your prospect into signing up for your information or product.
