Save your best business sales letters as the third one in a series of sales letters. It's important to remember that one single letter sent, one time to a prospect who doesn't know you, will not give you any results. The key to marketing success is to have a sequence of killer sales letters.
The crucial element is to get your prospect to opt in to your mailing list. The most effective way to do this, is to offer free information or something of equal value. Here are a few pieces of advice in creating a business sales letter. Use this one as the third in a series of business sales letters when your prospects do not respond to the first two.
Of course always start out with a polite greeting such as “Dear Prospect”, but then use this sentence to get their attention. “Take two (mention companies in the same field as the company your prospect is with)”. Next, compare one of the companies with the company the prospect is with. Continue to compare both companies, but emphasize that the first one is not succeeding as they had planned. For example, “Over time their business slowly grows, but there is always the feeling they could be doing better”.
Start talking about the second company, and how much better they are doing. Each year this company steals the market share from its competitors. Every year this company achieves its goals. Why? What is this company doing that makes it so much more successful than any other company in its field?
Tell them you know the answer to what makes that company so much more successful. Follow this, “We believe a large part of the answer involves the power and potential of (the type of work they do)”.
All business sales letters that are effective, and create a sense of urgency in prospects are the letters that grow your opt in list. Mention the prospects name several times in the sales letter, use your information as the key to their success. Create the sense of urgency that if they don't sign up for your information, they will continue to lead the lives they have, working the same job, and never achieving their goals or living their dreams.
