When going for a tarot reading, there are some terms you need to learn:
Reader – This is the person with the cards, the one interpreting them for you.
Querent – Well, basically, this is you. The person inquiring from the cards
Spread – How the cards are laid out on the table
Significator – The card that represents the question being asked or the querent
Before a reading begins, you may be asked to shuffle the deck. This is believed to be a good way to influence the cards with your touch. You should concentrate on your question (if you have one), while doing this. If you are getting an online tarot reading, it may work in a different way. Though you are not able to touch the cards physically, there can be graphical representations of them. Some online tarot readers may simply ask you to concentrate on your question while they do the shuffling for you.
Once the shuffling is done and the cards have been laid out in a certain spread, the reading can begin. There are two types of tarot readings: open and question reading.
Question readings address a specific question or problem area. When going in for one, try to keep your questions as open to options as possible, be focused, stay neutral and be positive that you will find your answers.
Open readings, on the other hand, address the larger scheme of things. This is the kind of reading to look for when you are entering a new phase in life, such as deciding to have children, starting on a new career path or getting married.
Your very first tarot reading can be quite an experience. All it takes is a little open-mindedness to help you enjoy it. At the end of your reading, the decision is still your own. The cards are there to guide you, not dictate your life.
Ever tried learning how to read tarot cards? This is one of the most popular divination tools around. The use of cards to foretell the future is called cartomancy. However, tarot cards are also pretty popular for playing games. It’s not all about magic and the occult with these cards. In fact, they gained so much popularity over the years that the cards themselves have evolved extensively.
You may hear about different deck types and the characters in them. Two of the major divisions among tarot cards are the Major Arcana and the Minor Aracana. These are simply not a matter of peculiarity in decks. They are two different breeds of tarot cards all together.
The Major Arcana cards is composed of 22 cards numbered from zero to twenty-one. Here, you will find the following cards: The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgment and The World. They are often interpreted as describing the querant’s progress in life or the journey he or she is currently taking. These cards are also called trump cards.
