You've heard the expression that "cleanliness is next to Godliness". Where did it come from? Did anyone ever tell you it had to do with the state of your bedroom or the kitchen? Have you ever thought that it might have to do with the condition of your physical body?

You may have heard that fasting is a way to cleanse the body internally. You've likely also heard that Jesus, Buddha, and many other spiritual greats, undertook prolonged fasts before sharing their teachings.

But have you thought that these two things might be connected? Have you ever considered that these great men may have deeply cleansed their bodies internally in order to obtain or perhaps enhance their spiritual connection? And if that's the case, does it mean that accumulated toxicity in the body might hinder our spiritual connection? Actually, I believe it does.

Have you noticed that the fall of Adam and Eve in the Bible was directly related to the foods that they were eating? They were told not to eat that apple. And yet they ate it. So, according to this story, putting the wrong foods in the body was the literal cause of their fall. If there is truth in this story, what do you think the consequences are of putting pesticides, preservatives, food colorings, genetically modified foods, and even anti-freeze in our bodies? Believe or not, the primary ingredient in anti-freeze is often used in personal care products and in "snack" foods found in convenience stores.

If two thousand years ago, a man considered by many to be their Savior felt the need to cleanse deeply by doing a documented forty day fast, what does that say about the average person's toxicity condition today?

Two thousand years ago, herbicides and pesticides didn't exist and they certainly weren't sprayed directly onto foods or leached into the water supply. Two thousand years ago, genetically modified ingredients weren't hidden in over half of the processed foods available. Actually, two thousand years ago, it's likely that few processed foods were around, and certainly nothing like the chemical concoctions that line our shelves today. Yet, even in far less toxic times, Jesus felt the need to do a prolonged and deep cleanse.

The extent of toxicity that we have in our bodies today is relatively new for humans. In addition to affecting spirituality, having a heavy toxic load in the body affects our health in a fundamental way that relatively few people truly understand the extent of. In fact, it's growing so quickly that you can watch it grow generationally. When I was a child, thirty some plus years ago, children just didn't get cancer. But nowadays, they have entire hospital wards just for them.

As our food supply and lifestyles become markedly more chemical, more and younger people will continue to have both serious and multiple health problems. This will continue until different choices are made regularly and people accept that these chemicals do hurt us - and often in ways we may not understand. After all, how can we hope to change the outcome, until we understand and accept the problem?

Fortunately, there are ways to remove a great deal of the toxicity stored in our bodies. Fasting is one way to cleanse. A cleanse diet, if you're not up for fasting, can also help. Colon cleansing and liver cleansing physically remove a great deal of waste; both extremely powerful. In fact, these days I think both are essential if you want to touch the levels of toxicity that are truly in there. When you use these methods, you’ll see how much comes out of you and you might be surprised. But when you see it for yourself, you’ll begin to understand how much toxicity people truly carry in their bodies these days. It then becomes hard to deny it.
