Nonthaburi
Nonthaburi is a central province that lies just north of Bangkok centre. Subsequently the area is very urbanized but still retains much of its history and culture. The Museum and The Thai Traditional Training Centre is built in classic Thai style and features an exhibition hall detailing the development of the area's medical profession. Visitors should also check out Wat Khemaphirataram Rajaworawiharn, and Montri Tramote's house - the former home of the famed Buddhist musician.
Samut Prakhan
Home to the (New) Bangkok International Airport, Samut Prakhan is located on the coast. The area used to be home to six forts built to defend the port of Siam, of which, two (Phi Sua Samut and Phra Chulachomkrao) still exist today. The Erawan Museum (chronicling the religious history of the area) and Ancient Siam, the world's largest outdoor museum, are also must-see sights.
Pathum Thani
Pathum Thani is located to the north of the province, and is the one of the biggest outside of Bangkok at over 1,500 square kilometres. Often considered the most interesting attraction in the area, the Science Museum is notable for its intriguing design and architecture and the interactive nature of its exhibits. Pathum Thani is also home to the Wat Chedi Hoi Temple - also known as the Shell Pagoda.
Samut Sakhon
Located in the south west of the area, Samut Sakhon was once a trading port. There are still some sights that can be seen from the time such as the 400 year old temple: Wat Yai Chom Prasat, and the uniquely windy canal: Khlong Khok Kham. Tours can also be taken around the area's orchard and flower gardens.
Nakhon Pathom
The biggest province in Bangkok Metropolitan Area, Nakhon Pathom is home to a wealth of culture ranging from cuisine to historical attractions. One such popular destination is the Sanam Chandra Palace, a small chateau-like structure built by King Vajiravudh which is now incorporated into the Silpakorn University. The province is also home to Thailands answer to Madame Tussauds - The Thai Human Imagery Museum.
