Lima, Peru:
The capital of Peru sits on the Western coast of the country and is home to almost 8 million people. It is the cultural and historical centre of the country, and boasts the best examples of its colonial architecture. In terms of contemporary culture, the city boasts an impressive combination of European, Asian and Andean – which is most realized in the cuisine available. There are also numerous museums and attractions within the city, such as The National Museum and The Park of the Reserve. The Barranco and Miraflores districts are popular with shoppers and those in search of nightlife.
Barcelona, Spain:
Located on the Mediterranean coast, Spain’s second biggest city is currently showing signs of having to adjust to the recession. The Trivego Hotel Price Index has recently reported that the average prices of hotel rooms in the city have fallen by 10 percent in a year. Visitors will have the opportunity to see beautiful examples of both Gothic and Art Nouveau architecture, and other uniquely incredible structures such as the Church of the Sagrada Familia – a huge Roman Catholic Church which has been under construction since 1882. The city is also renowned for its theatre and opera.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates:
One of the fastest advancing cities of recent memory, Dubai is really unlike any other in terms of modernization. As a result, a trip to the city offers you the opportunity to stay in the worlds tallest hotel – should you have the $1,000 to spend per night. Of course, hotels aren’t the only forms of accommodation area, The World and The Palm are offshore man-made archipelagos with accommodation available. Dubai is popular as a shopping, commerce, and business centre.
Singapore:
A brief stay in Singapore is not strictly a city-break, as this destination is actually an island nation-state, however I think it is safe to refer to the Downtown region as a suitable destination. In 2007, more than 10 million people visited the area, and it is likely to continue in its rising popularity. Visitors are drawn to Singapore for its rich culture, arts and shopping scene – as well as nature sights such as a Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and the Singapore River.
