The camp site itself is one of our favourites, and we have stayed there for a complete holiday and sometimes used it as a stop-over on route to Southern France and the Loire. There are beautiful green fields with the chateau looming above. There are several clay tennis courts which were in great condition and really nice to play on. The only problem is there is a fast flowing brook to one side of the courts, so a badly hit ball can easily end up being washed away. We have lost several in that way. There are also other games available. The general facilities are reasonable for a French camp site.
If you go at the right time there is a famous show, a Son et Luminaire, that takes place in the grounds of the chateau. This depicts an ancient battle and is full of horses galloping around, choirs, orchestras and amazing lighting effects and a booming audio system. If you have never been to something like this you will be amazed at the spectacle. The only down side to this camp site is if you really don't like bats. There tend to be quite a lot of them flying around in the early evening and they are not adverse to landing on people; I guess they have used to humans. Once you get used to them there isn't a problem. We have also found that the French people who camp here to be very friendly and welcoming. It is an excellent camp site.

About the Author
Falaise is a great place for a camping holiday or self catering holiday in France. It is situated in Calvados in the Basses-Normandie region in Normandy and is very easy to reach from England from various ferry routes. It has a great history and a fantastic chateau. In fact the Falaise camp site is in the grounds of this very old Chateau that once belonged to William the Conqueror who was born here. Falaise is full of history though much of the old architecture was destroyed during the Second World War when a famous battle between the German army and allied forces took place. A visit to the local museum is a must.
