The time of year for booking summer holidays has begun, and with more people turning away from tourist infested Spanish and Greek holiday resorts in recent years, a new holidaying experience has dramatically heightened in popularity. A Camping holiday in France can offer a large variety of activities, whether the holidaymaker is looking for an action packed holiday out of doors, or would prefer to relax and unwind with a book in a more traditional holiday setting.

A French camping holiday can be tailored to fit exactly to the holidaymaker's needs. For those with a taste for the outdoors, activities can include learning to abseil, riding horses though lush green forests or along beaches, or even hand gliding. Activities such as these can easily be booked through travel agents in advance, holiday reps in the resort, or even through the campsites themselves. All levels of ability can be catered for, from experts and improvers to those who have never dared to do anything like it before. France is also famous for its numerous ski resorts, although accommodation here may take the form of log cabins and chalets rather than traditional tents. It is possible to travel to ski resorts for day trips, however, where you will be greeted by town centres filled with low ceilinged wooden buildings that are laden with thick snow. French ski resorts are popular with British tourists partly for their wintery beauty, which is hardly rivalled and is the closest point to Britain where such a landscape can be found.

French campsites also offer an abundance of facilities for those who simply want to relax. Indoor pools, Jacuzzis, sun-beds, saunas and beauty treatments are widely available at most campsites, and can be the ultimate way to unwind after an active day skiing or taking parts in adventure sports. Kids' clubs also often run daily, giving parents a much needed break.
For those wanting to soak up some of France's culture, various daytrips can be organised through travel companies, or, if it is easier, the adventurous holidaymaker can simply hire a car and make their own way. The architectural beauty of Paris is close to many campsites, as are traditional French towns, wine merchants in the south, and the luxurious palace at Versailles, where the extensive gardens of Marie Antoinette can be visited.

The beauty of French camping holidays, of course, is that they include all these things. It is easy to plan your own holiday to include adventure sports, history and culture, and relaxation -something that is difficult to do on many other holidays, especially the more traditional kind.
