The sport of boxing requires arguably the most intense and high energy practice of any other sport. In order to be a successful boxer, you need to be in peak condition, both physically and mentally. You need speed, strength, agility, reflexes, and nerve. Most sports only require 1 or 2 of these things to be successful. So to train for boxing, you will have to have a lot of perseverance, and stick with your daily routine. Different people have different exercises that benefit them, but here are a few that are sure to help in some way.

Running is always beneficial to the human body, no matter what your final goal is. Take a half-hour jog every morning. It helps your cardiovascular system, your stamina and endurance, and generally gives you more energy while you go about other things.

Lifting weights is always a good idea, since you can focus on individual muscles that will help your boxing ability. For a boxer, it is important to have a strong core, as well as strong shoulders, arms, and chest muscles. These help him to take more damage from the opponent, as well as throw harder punches in order to win faster. In addition to straight weightlifting, you can also use a punching bag to improve your punching form and your strength.

Whenever you've got a few minutes to spare, you can do some exercises that will improve your boxing ability as well as your body. Hop on the ground and do 50 push-ups, or 50 sit-ups.

And finally, the only way to gain true boxing skill, is to actually spar with someone. If you can't find any friends willing to do it, join a boxing class or a boxing team locally. There, you will get plenty of practice.

With all of this physical exertion, it is important to make sure you're giving your body what it needs. Drink plenty of water or Gatorade, and be sure to eat large, healthy meals. Give yourself a good amount of complex carbohydrates contained in whole grain, oats, and other foods. Also, eat plenty of fatty foods, fruits, vegetables, and protein. It can't hurt to have a multi-vitamin every now and then.

Boxing is a tough sport, but doing it, you can become much stronger, faster, and more likely to be able to defend yourself in a real life fight situation. So if you're interested in boxing, get in gear and start doing it!
