The Champions League Final is being held at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, home of Italian giants Roma and Lazio, on Wednesday 27th May at 19.45. This will be the fifth time in five years that an English club has appeared in the final, showing that the English Premiership is the dominant league in the world at present. Indeed, last years winners, Manchester Utd are bidding to become the first club ever to retain their title in Champions League history.
In fact, it was so close to being a repeat of last years final. Chelsea, the team Barcelona beat in the semi finals, were only 2 minutes away from reaching the final, when they conceded in the 92nd minute. Heartbreak all around for them and their fans, but cheers all around from the rest of the footballing world as the Barcelona are by far the better team to watch.
So, both Manchester Utd and Barcelona fans will be flocking to Rome’s latest Colloseum to show their support and cheer on their modern day gladiators as it promises to be one of the most exciting finals for many a year.
Each club receives just 19,500 tickets for the final, meaning there will likely be ballots by each club to see which of the season ticket holders are lucky enough to be able to buy them.
A further 10,000 tickets are being balloted by UEFA (the governing body of the competition), and the rest, some 18,000 tickets go to sponsors and other corporate partners.
As such, tickets are still available if you know where to look, but they are selling very fast, and with the final not far away, quick action is needed if you want to get a ticket in time.
