What is a professional life coach and what does one do? No doubt you've seen people and companies offer services as a personal life coach or a professional life coach and you wonder if it's something you should look into.
It's possible that hiring a life coach would be a wonderful asset because they truly can help a person succeed in life. But in order to understand if you're at a point in your life to fully appreciate a professional life coach, you should make sure you understand what they do. It can be a bit confusing because life coaching sounds very much like a lot of other services that are offered these days.
A professional life coach does a similar job to a psychologist, but it is not quite the same job. Psychological therapy tends to deal with a person's past and how they got to the point where they presently are. The hope is that, by understanding what motivates them, they can fix what may be holding them back, and move on.
A professional life coach, on the other hand, focuses on where a person is. A professional life coach doesn't bother trying to figure out what motivates a person and instead tries to help a person figure out how to get away from what they're currently doing and towards what they want to do.
That, in a nutshell, is what a professional life coach does. If you'd like to understand how your life got to the point where it is now, then you may want to consider therapy. Therapy would also be useful if you're trying to find out if you have some form of mental disorder.
If, however, you just want to get past that and find a way to succeed in life, then you should probably consider getting a professional life coach. A life coach will be much more useful in getting to the point where you can move on in life, and be done with your current situation.
