The worst thing about giving aid is the fact that you cannot actually give what you do not have. This actually relates to the fact that the help that can be given to the indigent people in the society is still dependent on one important factor, and that is the availability of the resources to suffice their needs.

Consequently, if these resources are not in any way available then notwithstanding the fact that people are in dire need of financial aid, still the same cannot be given

The same principle is actually adopted when it comes to Supplemental Security Income. Supplemental Security Income as the term implies is an alternative source of financial resource absent in any income generating resource present in our society for an individual. The individual can rely on this Social Security Benefit to suffice his or her necessities considering that such an individual has actually complied with all the requisites for being eligible for the program.

The question that lingers in the mind of everyone now is, why is it then that despite one’s compliance with all the requisites necessary for the approval of a Supplemental Security Income, still an individual applying cannot be granted the same?

The answer is obvious and it would relate back to the simple formula enunciated above which is you cannot give what you absolutely do not have. Relating it to Supplemental Security Income, despite the fact that so many people are eligible and can actually be given supplemental income afforded by the Social Security Administration, still this is dependent on the availability of financial resource that may be opened to the public.

Complying with all the necessary paper trail and all the necessary requisites in order to fall within the purview of indigent as defined by our Social Security Laws is merely one piece of the puzzle. The most important part is the determination of available funding from the state to actually answer this financial expense for the government.

There are several sources of income for the government, these may include:

1.     public contracts entered into by the state;
2.     investment opportunities that the government has contracted into, and
3.    largest source of income for the state, would be our taxes.

Notwithstanding these available sources of income, the needs of the state for financial recourse are far greater from the sources the same would be obtained. Again you cannot give what you do not have, as lame duck a provision as the Supplemental Security Income actually is.
