According to new data by Human Resources and Social Development Canada, this number of immigrant workers is an astounding 300% jump from just three years ago.

It states that if all 40,000 of these immigrants had to live in one place, their size would be sustainable enough to create a new city half the size of Red Deer.

The new data also indicates that this could only be the beginning. The number of temporary foreign workers in Canada could grow even larger in the coming months because a significant number of applications are still being processed by Immigration over and above the 41,218 requests approved in the past 12 months.

Information from this data from Ottawa focused on the Labour Market Opinions confirmed in Alberta, and forms part of a key step in bringing temporary foreign workers to Canada.

Michael Greene, an immigration lawyer from Calgary, believes that even though Canada's federal department of Citizenship and Immigration still needs to issue work permits for the labourers to enter Canada, most will go through in the majority of cases.

"We are being swamped with requests from employers for temporary foreign workers because they simply can't find people," said Greene.

Canada offers a variety of Work Visas, namely:
- Canadian Skilled Worker Visa
- Quebec Skilled Worker Visa
- PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) Skilled Worker Visa
- Temporary Work Permit

- IT Pilot Project Work Visa
- Occupations Under Pressure Work Visa
- Post-Graduation Work Visa
- Partner Work Visa
- Academic Work Visa
- Film & Entertainment Work Visa

- Working Holiday Visas

Many of these Canadian Work Visas listed above could open a doorway to immigration for you.
