Many industry experts carry authority in their respective online niches, with consumers and other industry personnel trusting what they say and recommend. These experts have gained authority through the years with hard work, expertise and experience. Authority online also helps your site rankings in the search engines, especially accompanied by great whitehat SEO practices. Many practitioners, no matter their field, strive to become well-respected, authoritative figures within their given industry. Most don’t make it, while some follow through by taking the correct steps. Here are three recommendations for building online authority within your industry. 1. Book Reviews You spend countless hours building and running your business and concentrating on what you are doing, but it is very helpful to stop a moment and listen to what others in your field are saying. Learn about how others in your field have been successful and learn something new for yourself. You can never stop learning and growing, no matter how old you are. This applies to a business as well. You will not only run your company more efficiently, you will benefit immensely. You can also review the book and how it helped you and post the review online. This will help increase your online presence and authority within your field. 2. Testimonials Genuine client testimonials can go a long way in building a company’s credibility, much in the same way as ratings and reviews do for products. They carry weight and allow someone else to say “hey, come see how great this company is!” That way you avoid having to feel like your bragging when you know you got “it”. Place testimonials on your website, along a sidebar or in its own section. Pull testimonials from your LinkedIn page, but if you do, make sure your LinkedIn page is complete and has a photo up. I can’t think of a bigger turn-off on social networks than a profile with no photo. Is it real or a bot? 3. Host Webinars or Podcasts Webinars and podcasts have become the most popular ways to hold conferences and disseminate short snippets of expertise and knowledge. Both are very easy to setup and you don’t have to spend money traveling just to teach and learn. This is a great way to be perceived as a thought leader within your niche and build an eager audience for your valuable information. Every industry has their experts and thought leaders who are a deep resource of wisdom, expertise, knowledge and know-how. To become one of these authoritative online figures, you must assert your authority through different avenues and implementations in order to build a dynamic and eager audience with your industry. These recommendations are a great start to building your own authority and becoming an expert within your own field of work.
