If you had not started promoting, they would not have even been to your site anyway. But if the visitor becomes a customer, that is money you would not have originally had.
In addition, when you first start getting customers it will be far easier for you to deliver outstanding customer service. This can lead to you building quality relationships and potentially building a return customer base. From there, these customers will go on to refer your web site to others leading to more and more visitors.
Do you get the point? There really is no point in waiting to announce your internet marketing business. All you are doing is taking away potential sales and potential return customers that you could gain. The second you have a live web site with a domain name, you should be promoting your site to start getting your name and the businesses name recognized.
