We started for a week and it went all well as the breeze walk in the morning indeed let me and my wife have clearer mind and work better in the day; in addition, it also help me and my wife to have a chance to be alone together and grow better relationship. It's a stone killing two birds benefits.
Last night, i had a bad sleep and woke up several time in the middle of the night. As a result, when CW woke me up at 5:30am, I was so tired and reluctant to get out of my comfort bed. Those i was lying there for a while, my mind started to tick. I began to debate with myself. On one hand, I was cursing the stupid idea of waking up in the early morning to exercise as there are other easier way to have a good health. On the other hand, I was really wanted to wake up and trying to find reasons to justify why I should wake up.
Alas, it came to my sense that the reason of why I must wake up was that I really want to have good health and one of the action steps is to do early breeze walk daily. The second big reason was I want to have better relationship with my wife so that we do have some private time for ourselves and share some common activities without constant disruption from our two loving children. When these 2 reasons afloat in my mind, I suddenly jumped up and rush into the bath room to wash away my sleeping bugs.
When I reflected back my reasoning process, I remembered that many motivators and successful businessmen were always being asked: "How to be successful?" or "How did you do that?" Many time, these motivators and successful businessmen will generously either give a brief account of their biography or a step-by-step guide.
After learning from them their valuable tips, more than often, it remains in the memory of the millionaire-wannabe or notes in their blog. Very few people will take action and follow-suit. Even if they do, most of them will not end-up as their successful mentor. So, what is the problem with copy-cat method of learning the history of being rich or a step-by-step manual?
I finally understood that the right question to ask is not the How-to, buy the big why. If the why is compelling enough and strong enough, everything will fall in places. Take the example of my goal of having good health and better relationship with my wife: to have good health, is to eat well and exercise frequent; and to have better relationship is to have more time and communicate more! As such, the how-to is well know by many but many choose not to do it as the reason of why is not huge enough.
I started with this year a detail step-by-step action guide to accomplishing my goals and since my reason of making it reality is huge and serious enough, I have been taking massive action and did not procrastinating on them.
I have learn not to ask the "how-to" but the "why-to" questions. To date, i am keeping faithfully on my action steps and I know by year-end, I will have my all goals achieved.
