After listening to their presentation, I was truly impressed with the results. Although they still need to fine-tune the finishing (selling their products and services), they did quite well. Obviously, they have been practicing with all their hearts.
Now, this is what I want to talk about, practicing one's craft. You can be involved in anything; sales, teaching, training, insurance etc.; but only practice makes your skill perfect. Most people do not see the importance of practicing.
If you observe the world's great sportsmen and women, rigorous practice help them master their skills well in their respective sports and also prepare them better for competitions. Even great actors and actresses practice their lines repeatedly to ensure that they carry out their roles well.
I have been conducting my seminars for many years now. It has become second nature to me. However, when I am introducing a whole new seminar or adding a new segment to my existing seminar, I always rehearse it first with my wife. She would point out what she feels is missing and also give comments on the overall presentation. I would then work on it and present it to her again. I will do it over and over until both of us are satisfied with it. Do I stop there? No! I would continue to practice when I am on my own and when if I can't find the time to practice, I would continue practicing in my mind. Yes! I would visualize myself presenting the new seminar or the new additional segment for the existing seminar, in my mind, repeatedly.
Then, once I have actually presented the new material, I would do a post mortem on it and review the feedback from my participants on my overall performance. I would then further do my best to improve my presentation and its contents. Later, I would present the new improvised presentation to my wife. And the process continues.
As you can see, the process of practicing one's craft or skill does not stop. It is like breathing, it continues. If you practice your craft continuously, you become the best in your chosen field of work. What happens then?
Those who are mediocre or just average in their chosen craft would need to hunt for a job and be satisfied with whatever dismal pay that comes with it. However, for those who have mastered their skills well, the jobs normally come knocking at their doors! People would not mind paying obscene amount of money just to secure their services.
As such, choose wisely; to either constantly practice or not!
