Clean and Simple
One common interior design trend of the moment is that of maintaining a clean and simple style in your living room. The primary factors that achieve such a style include having clean lines, keeping the area free of clutter, and including furniture that is simple in design and neutral in colour. Leather, of course, is inherently pattern free - and modern designs are typically low on detailing such as beadwork and buttons. In keeping with neutral tones, leather sofas are now easily available in white and cream - and are more durable and easier to clean than fabric.
Over-sized
Similarly, in order to make bigger rooms more homely and cosy, over-sized furniture has increased in popularity offering a fine balance of warmth and comfort within an uncluttered clean area. As might be expected, leather sofas have long been designed in such a way - with over-sized leather designs as easily available as fabric. And what says this modern statement better than a redesign of a traditional material?
Shabby and Chic
Although we have been focusing on new buys, old or second-hand leather sofas are the perfect inclusion for a living room that suits the modern shabby chic style. Mix-matching older and antique-looking furniture with subtly different cushions on a traditional brown leather sofa can give a really friendly and rustic feel to a room, and especially one that is often used and difficult to keep tidy.
Fun
For those considering a sofa for a family room that is likely to be used by both adults and children, it is probably more than likely that you have doubted that leather furnishings can look fun at all. The good news is that the durability and ease of maintenance of leather make it perfect for children - and it can look friendly and exciting too. Bright red or yellow cushions can brighten up any classic black design, whilst full suites are even available in bright red should you want to go that one step further.
