There are many good reasons for choosing a metal garden shed but perhaps the most obvious at first glance might appear to be the greater safety and security that such a product provides. With strong and flexible walls, roofs and doors, metal sheds are more difficult for unwanted intruders to break into, which offers greatly improved protection for children and pets against any sharp-edged tools or potentially hazardous liquids and chemicals. Equally of course, metal garden sheds offer greater security against possible theft for expensive bicycles, lawnmowers, barbecues and garden furniture - or even children’s playthings hastily put away to tidy up the garden. Moreover a metal garden shed provides good corrosion and rot-resistance, as well as being resistant to all kinds of vermin and other garden pests.

In addition to strength and security of course, for many householders and gardeners today, it is the pleasing modern style and contemporary appearance of metal garden sheds that is the main reason for choosing one. Indeed with such a great variety of designs and styles available on the market, in all sorts of shapes and sizes, there really is a metal garden shed to suit most types of house and garden from a traditional country cottage to a chic urban development. Metal sheds are often made from plastic-coated or process painted metal sheets, and many are offered in a wide range of contemporary colours and finishes; sometimes with different wood grain textures and profiled or planking effects so you should have little difficulty in choosing a metal shed to suit virtually any taste, need or budget.

The strength and durability of metal sheds is ably complemented by their low maintenance requirements as their typically plastic coatings are strongly bonded to the base metal sheets in a way that ensures a long working life with very little need for ongoing future maintenance. A metal shed does not need the same regular application of additional protective treatments or finishing coats that you might expect with a traditional timber shed and, in most cases, the colouring pigments on metal garden sheds are chosen to resist sunlight and ultra violet radiation although this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer so it’s always worth checking the fade resistance of any metal garden shed you may be considering before purchase, as this depends upon the actual colour and some are more fade prone than others.

One of the most appealing features of metal garden sheds is that their strong but lightweight construction makes them extremely easy to erect using only simple DIY tools that the average householder is already likely to have in their possession. Indeed, in most cases you will be able to assemble a metal shed using only a few spanners and/or screwdrivers. One thing to remember though is that, with a metal garden shed it is not quite so easy to stick up the odd shelf rail or bracket as it may be with a timber shed. However in view of this, most manufacturers offer a wide range of shelving and other accessories so that you can customise metal sheds to suit just about any household or gardening requirement.
