As a big time bread lover I am a huge fan of the highly popular bread machines that are now on the market. I used to have to go to my grandmother's house to get really good fresh bread, now with the recipes I have accumulated and my own bread machine I can make my own at home. Having fresh bread makes a big difference in meals like spaghetti, gumbos etc. If you are of French or Italian descent you know that not having fresh bread on the table is almost a sin. I know when I was growing up my Mama Doguet, who is of course Cajun, would always have a roll of fresh bread or a big pan of fresh baked rolls at every meal.

Well, thanks to the ingenuity of inventors we no longer have to make the trip to grandma's house just to get fresh bread now bread machines or bread makers are quickly becoming a small piece of equipment used almost as much as the microwave. And there is no wonder why, the smell and taste of fresh baked bread is almost impossible to refuse, plus it can be very nutritious for you. These appliances can be considered another of the few miracle kitchen machines to make our cooking and baking lives much more fun. With the internet it has never been easier to find bread machines, except maybe narrowing it down to which one to choose for your family's needs. Here are some ideas that will help you in finding the right one for you.

Most bread you buy at the grocery store these days comes in one and a half to two pound loafs, so the first tip you should know is to look for a bread machine with at least a two pound capacity. There really isn't a good reason to make bread size less than a two pound loaf anyway. Secondly you should look for a bread maker with at least 8 different settings. Some of the best choices for these settings are: Basic, Whole Wheat, French, Sweet and Express bake.
If you get a bread machine that has a view window you can atually watch the bread baking without removing the lid which saves energy and time. Be sure that the pan you use to bake the bread in has a nonstick coating so it is easier to clean. Most of the ones you find these days will come that way but check to be sure.

It doesn't matter whether you are going to use the breadmaker only once a week or everyday, it is an essential part of a well equipped kitchen so be sure that you compare and get the most complete model you can for the money you invest.
