Tamil Cinema is the Southern language movie industry catering to the Tamil speaking audience in India and abroad. The industry is commonly referred to as ‘Kollywood’ and has been in vogue since 1931. Technicians and artists from far flung corners of the globe have made their mark in Tamil cinema. The industry holds the accolade for artists performing many roles in the same film. Ilaiyaraaja and A.R. Rehman are music directors from the Chennai film industry and have an international following. The double Oscar winner A.R.Rehman hails from the same milieu. Innovative ideas, quality remakes and top notch technology keeps the Tamil cinema industry ahead of others in contemporary time.
