Good brushing needs to last about 2 minutes. To properly brush your teeth, you need to use short, gentle strokes while paying attention to your gum line as well. It is important to pay extra attention to your back teeth. There is a recommended way to clean teeth, which needn’t be followed to the T but is helpful: start by brushing the outer surface of your upper teeth, then your lower teeth, then clean the inner surfaces of upper teeth and then lower teeth. Continue by cleaning the inner surfaces of your upper teeth, then your lower teeth, clean the chewing surfaces, and finally brush your tongue. Brush all your teeth, not just the front ones. Spend some time on your teeth along the sides and in the back. Brush away from your gums. It is recommended to brush twice a day - after breakfast and before bed at night. If it is possible, brush after you eat, especially after sweet foods.

It is also recommended to floss your teeth on a regular basis; flossing is essential to keeping your teeth healthy. Get about 15 inches of floss and wind some of it around your middle finger. Wind the remaining floss around the index finger of your other hand; this finger will take up the floss as it gets dirty. Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers and never snap the floss into the gums; use only a gentle sweeping motion. When you get to the gum line, curve the floss against one tooth. Gently slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth and hold the floss tightly against the tooth. Use a sliding motion to clean back and forth. Repeat on the rest of your teeth.
