Men in medical scrubs could tell that smokers weigh less than nonsmoker. Though smoking can help to eradicate obesity still obesity and cigarette smoking accelerate human aging and both of them are very dangerous to one’s health. While cigarette smoking is deadly , health-damaging obsession of eating too much is also lethal. Research shows that for every 10 percent increase in the price of cigarettes, there is 2 percent increase in the incidence of obesity. Between 1980 and 2000, as smoking rates fell 27 percent, the average weight of Americans rose 20 pounds.
Because of these facts I consider obesity and cigarette smoking the subtle workers of death in America specially this year.
But how about next year? Will obesity and cigarette smoking will still remain in the rank? My guess is that these two will be topped by depression.
Depression is common to all not just Americans . Because of this ever changing world of ours, anxiety, depression and stress are mankind’s maladies already. So many people suffered from it that they tend to find cure through taking drugs, drinking liquors, smoking cigarettes and even eating too much.
Depressed people are like ants. They never get tired, not of work but of worrying. That’s why they find ways so that they can eliminate or if they cannot eradicate it forget their worries and two possible effects is obesity and cigarette smoking. The cure for this like obesity and cigarette smoking is personal. Personal control and personal habit.
However I don’t have the vision of the future but I can only grasp based from what happened at present and in the past. So God bless America and it’s illnesses and let us see what this coming year is suppose to give us.
