The development of office coffee machines, however, has not only meant that there is more choice between machines, but it can now be up to the buyer to decide exactly what the machine offers.
Subsequently, this involves at least some sort of analysis of your employees or the typical visitors that visit your establishment, the location of your buildings in relation to others, and even the climate of your area as it changes with the seasons. Your supplier will no doubt offer to assist you with these decisions, but it is a good idea to establish exactly what you need from your vending machine as early on as possible.
Firstly you must consider who exactly will be using your vending machine(s). What proportion of users will be staff and what proportion will be members of the public? If it is likely to be used by staff the majority of the time, then what drinks do they currently consume? Standard tea and coffee are likely to be popular, but be aware of whether you staff commonly drink anything else such as green teas, fruit juices, hot chocolate, water, or specialist variations such as cappuccinos or mochas.
Of visitors, consider their ages, market research suggest that young children will be more likely to drink fruit juices and other cold drinks in comparison to coffee and tea.
So where is your building located? The success of you vending machine will no doubt be affected by whether you are in an urban area or a rural area. For instance, it must be acknowledged that your staff and visitors are going to have far more refreshment choices if your office is in a town centre surrounded by shops, cafes, and other vending machines. This does not mean that you cannot offer them something different - stocking more unique products such as cranberry juice and soups might be better for this situation.
Similarly, depending on where you are in the world will also affect what you stock. Obviously, warmer climates call for a wider range of cooler drinks, and if you're lucky enough to be based in the arctic tundra, winter warmers are most likely to keep your workers warm and happy.
