One of the most cautioned against performance enhancers on the market is yohimbe. It can cause disorientation, confusion, extreme flushing of the skin. It can result in death and has in at least one publicized incident about five years back. It is never supposed to be used by women.

Nevertheless, there are athletes who use this product and find that it is an exceptional overall workout enhancer. It causes increased blood flow to all of the muscles, not just the sexual organs, and causes an increase in oxygen intake. As a a result it enables one to have a more enjoyable workout. Possibly it can be said that it gives a workout edge or a figurative ten percent advantage.

Yohimbe is a derivative of tree bark. Originally it came from Africa and had the reported mystique of being the performance enhancer of choice for the super virile male inhabitants of that continent. That may be one of the reasons that it caught on here in the land of quick fixes. It supposedly gave men the edge when that was otherwise lacking, possible because of occasional stress or the effects of age.

Interestingly it seems to have the same side effects as an overdose Viagra. Yet Viagra does not carry with it the same ominous aura. Viagra under an MDs watch is OK, but yohimbe is much less so, if ever at all. In nearly all cases an MD will recommend Viagra instead of yohimbe. That is in spite of the fact that Yohimbe costs less, is natural and actually has had some good reports from those who have simply used it moderately as an overall performance enhancer.

Women supposedly should never use this product. Yet its never clear why. Possibly it is due to the belief that their central nervous system is different than a man's and that this particular additive does not react kindly with it. Possibly there will be further research done on this at some point. But for right now it does not seem to be likely.

Yohimbe can be bought at the corner drug store. If it is not on the shelf, it can be and it can be special ordered from a reputable supplement manufacturer such as Natrol. The cost is about twenty cents per capsule. (Two of these before a workout have resulted in very desirable effects on 150-170 pound males.)

Should anyone try this product? Yes anyone should But before doing so one should Google it beforehand. That will result in one saying that it either is or is not right for them. That is far more productive than asking one's MD, who will almost always be sure say that it is not.

Will it have the same effect as Viagra (used as an erectile stimulant)? The men know to the author who use yohimbe have also tried Viagra. These men will only say that they will opt for the Yohimbe every time.
