The way to enjoy a leisure holiday this year despite the problematic state of economy is simply going on a camping holiday. Not only are the costs for renting a place on a camp site relatively low, but a self catering holiday makes it possible to cut down the expenses on food as well. Although camping is not considered a five star accommodation option, one would be surprised at the comfort that camping gear offers these days. The basic equipment needed for camping holidays is of course a tent, mattresses and sleeping bags. Tents can be bought in all varying sizes and designs, from a small one person tent to even tents that can harbour nine persons or more. Going on a camping trip with the family usually requires tents for four or five persons. Alternatively, to create a separate space for adults and children, special kid's tents can be purchased, while the parents can make us of a cosy two persons tent.

After deciding on the shelter, self-inflating mattresses are probably the easiest way to ensure a comfortable sleeping place. While being easy to transport, a simple valve mechanism automatically inflates the sleeping mattress without having to use an air pump. It is essential to pick the right sleeping bag when going on a camping holiday. This has to be done considering the climate of the place of destination as well as body size, as children will need special kid's sleeping bags. Special sleeping bags are manufactured for extremely cold climates, but for a camping holiday to a sunny and warm country, almost any kind of sleeping bag will do. Apart from the essential gear, there is a lot of extra equipment which brings a little bit more luxury into a tent. Special camping kitchen equipment, coolers, grills, stoves and camping furniture ensure having a good meal even outdoors. Camping lanterns, heaters and insect protection guarantee a comfortable feeling in any kind of weather. And for adventure trips into the wild, camping knives and tools as well as special bag packs are the perfect equipment. So while still being able to maintain relatively low costs, with the right gear almost any kind of luxury can be ensured on a camping trip.
