I thought I should share a police study guide with you because I know you’re going to need some help. The police exam is one of those tests that can be very unforgiving to those that take it. I don’t want to say that it is hard; it’s just something that has a lot of unexpected questions. Most people don’t prepare properly for the exam and inevitably fail. And when I use the word most, I literally mean 70% of people that take this exam will actually fail it. It takes proper preparation and a little background on the questions that you’re going to properly study for this. I’m going to give a bit of a police study guide to help you.

The first thing you really have to get out of your head is that this test is going to be on stuff related to police work. Any police department that is recruiting knows that most people aren’t going to know a thing and they don’t expect you to know anything. Sure having some sort of background or education on the subject will help with the interview process, but the test will have nothing on it. All they’re looking for is a demonstration that you have a good head on your shoulders.

Your memory skills will need to be improved before you go into the police exam. Reading comprehension is something that will be tested and a lot of people struggle with this. They give you a few minutes to read something, take it away from you and ask you to answer questions. This catches a lot of people by surprise. Another memory related question is when they show you a picture and you have a few minutes to view it. They take it away from you and ask questions on it like apartment numbers and license plate numbers.

You’re also going to face a lot of math questions on the police exam. I know that math scares a lot of people, but they really aren’t hard. They’re not going to literally give you a math problem. They’ll give it as a word problem and people don’t really like that. But the math is relatively basic. Fractions and percentages will be as hard as it gets.
