You need to complete a good plumbing course to be a well qualified plumber. It is as simple as that! You need to be a specialist in plumbing to install and maintain systems used for potable water, drainage, sewage and industrial process piping. Years of training coupled with a vast on-job experience is needed before one can be recognized as a skillful plumber. There can be no compromise on this issue. Why so? Apprenticeship Training

This plumbing course is a five year program where apprentices learn through both class room and on-job training. Each one-year segment of the course contains approximately 2000 hours of on the job training and roughly 250 hours of classroom instruction. Apprentices receive a strong basic education related to the trade involving core courses in mechanical drafting, mathematics and science.

Journeyman Training
After completion of the five year program one becomes a full-fledged journeyman. At this stage your skill up gradation need not be over. You have plenty of opportunity to update and expand your skills.

Certification Programs
Certification is the byword for quality in the piping industry today. There are many plumbing courses and programs that help to upgrade by specialized certifications. Some examples of certification programs available are medical gas installation, refrigerant handling, industrial rigging, valve repair, welding, geo thermal, green awareness and instrumentation.

Future Trends
There is a growing awareness today that a plumber should understand his role in the environment and public health. Water conservation and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions are in focus in many parts of the world and United States is no exception.

Homeowners are urged to be serious about water and energy conservation. A plumber has a significant role to play toward this end. Training and accreditation courses are available that highlight the following.
