In magazines, there are pictures of these beautiful, seemingly perfect women, advertising all different aspects of fashion. One ad might be on lingerie, with the very toned and flawless body, while another might show teeth whiteners. All which has probably been retouched so that the public will fall in love with whatever fashion product is being advertised.
This may make women want to change their bodies. While this can be done in a healthy way, through exercise and diet, some women take it to the extreme and have plastic surgery. There are breast implants, liposuction, tummy tucks, and so much more. Instead of being happy with how one looks, they try to change everything physically possible.
If the people in charge of starting the fashion trends would put more thoughts into who they portray and who their audience is, it is possible that fewer women would look to drastic measures to be beautiful.
On a completely different note, one may consider the very small size of the models in the fashion industry to be bad to an everyday woman's mental health. One that is very in tune with today's fashion.
When thinking about the size of models, some young women may thing that in order to be fashionable, they have to be the same size as what is seen. Now, not all women are as impressionable as others, but the ones that are could develop eating disorders or become addicted to plastic surgery, all in the name of fashion. The constant media exposure of super thin models portraying what the hottest trend should be is all it takes to become a mental leach to some women.
Women should be strong enough and proud enough of their bodies to look past the shallow part of fashion, but this is not always the case. Every day, more and more girls and women, develop some sort of disorder because they are so afraid of not being fashionable and fitting in. Love yourself and the world of women's fashion may not affect you so much.
